Dad's 60th Birthday

November 6th was my dad’s 60th birthday. Jaret and I along with many of his friends threw him a 60th birthday party. My dad hates surprises, so it was not a surprise. We hired a local band named The Kapp Brothers to play and held the party in the basement of the Rock Bottom lounge.  It was so amazing how many people came to celebrate with us. I’m guessing we had around 50 people in combination of family and friends. I think my dad will never forget this milestone and I’m so thankful for everyone who helped make it happen.

Sponge Bob Square Pants

They opened a new Del Taco closer to our house. They had been advertising that Sponge Bob would be at the open house. Grey loves Sponge Bob, so we went to meet him and have some lunch. Greydon wore his Sponge Bob shirt that says “I Mustache you a question.”  He thinks this is the best shirt of all times.

Haloween 2012

Greydon wanted to be a dragon for Halloween. We found a dinosaur costume and Darin and I made the red wings to make it a dragon costume. We carved pumpkins with the neighbor girls, had a Halloween party at Grandma Zues’s house with all the cousins and got to decorate pumpkins. We also went to the Galer’s for another party and Darin and I dressed as super heroes. Greydon had a lot of fun trick or treating this year too. He got a lot of candy!

American West Heritage Center

We took a day trip to the American West Heritage Center in Logan, UT. They had things decorated for Halloween and had a big hay slide, corn maze, gourd launching, pony rides, train rides and a wild west shoot out. It was a very fun thing to do!

Having a baby GIRL!

For those of you who don't know.....I'm happy to announce that we will be adding a new baby girl to our family in April!

Finally C-Diff Free!

I am now officially Clostridium Diffcile (C-Diff) free! That was the worst thing I have ever gone through and I am so glad to finally have beat it. It started back in June and I was not cleared of it until September. I lost a little over 20 pounds in two months and had to sit out of a lot of summer time activities too.  I guess it is a good weight loss program, but no anything you would ever volunteer for. I am thankful for my family and friends who were able to help me out and send good thoughts my way throughout this illness. Now onto bigger and better things =)

Portland, OR

Since my mom was kind enough to come help me out for a few weeks, I was kind enough to drive with her the 11 hours back to her home in Oregon.  I had never been to OR before. We went over Labor Day weekend so I had all day Saturday and Sunday to see the sites. On Saturday we went over to the farmers market just down from Portland State University. There was amazing produce and it was a beautiful trip over. We got to walk across a bridge and ride the trolley. That evening we went to a nice place for dinner.

On Sunday we drove out to the coast. It was Amazing! We drove along Hwy 101 for quite some time and stopped at a few little towns along the way. We went to eat at this place called  Jetty’s Fishery (http://www.jettyfishery.com/) . They have tanks of live Crab, Oysters, Clams. You can even go crabbing at the doc. We walked down the dock to take a look and came across Jelly Fish!! I don’t think I will ever swim in the ocean again. I have always been afraid of Jelly Fish but eased my fears that I have never seen on out of a tank….well, that has now changed.

It was great to get to spend some time with my mom and James. It’s hard for me to get used to her being so far away, but it makes the time we get to spend together even better. I love you Mom, thanks for the help and the trip!

A Visit from my Mom

My mom came into town from Oregon to help me with Grey since I have been sick. Of course just having her around made me feel better and towards the end of her trip we were able to go to a Ogden Raptor’s game and the Zoo.

2012 Family Reunion

We had our family reunion in Bear lake this year. We were able to plan for a little longer and stay for the weekend. As always, it was a blast! The camp spot was amazing and not far from the water. The food was delicious and the company was great. My cousin Mjika brought a water tramp and her two jet skis to play on. My dad brought a couple of blow up boats to play on too. We had a lot of time to catch up with each other and be a family. It was great!

Dr. Greydon Scott

With me being so sick lately I have gotten a lot of doctor check ups from Dr. Greydon. He loves to get out his doctor kit and check me out. I think he is the sweetest thing in the world. This particular day was a rough one since I had to spend the afternoon on an IV and was not able to make it to a good friend’s farewell party that evening. Grey sure did lift my spirits with his precious check up and kind words.

Island Park

We have been looking forward to our trip to Island Park all summer long. We rented a cabin with our friends the Conroy’s, Galer’s and Whitney’s. The cabin was really nice. Our first day there we floated the river and it took several hours. Greydon just loved it!  We saw fish, a Moose and one of the Whitney boys caught a frog too.

Unfortunately I started getting sick and had to go home early. However, Grey and Darin stayed and go to go fishing, boating and play at the local park. They did not take as many pictures as I would have liked, but at least they got a few.

Greydon's 3rd Birthday

July 18th was Greydon’s 3rd birthday. We celebrated with a party for him at the North Shore Aquatic center with all of his cousins and some of his friends. It was such a great time and everyone really enjoyed themselves.  Greydon loved helping me make his Mickey Mouse themed cupcakes and putting together goodie bags for all of the kids. We swam for hours and then indulged in pizza, cupcakes and presents. He was spoiled rotten as always. I told Darin that is one perk for him being an only child, he gets all of the attention at our house and pretty much gets everything he wants. I may be creating a monster but the kid is so cute I just can’t help it =)

Check out this awesome Fire Station Grey got from my mom and James. It is unbelievable. It is so detailed and very durable and heavy. Greydon just loves it!

Happy Birthday Greydon! We love you so much! Cake face and all.

4th of July

We went to the North Ogden Parade for the 4th of July. Greydon loved all of the loud sirens and the horses. We were able to sit by our neighbors whose little girl McKinley is Grey’s good friend.  The two of them had so much fun collecting candy and watching all of the floats. Grey’s cousin John was on a float with his Karate class and he thought it was SO neat to see his cousin on a float.

A Bike Ride

Darin and I decided we were going to make a healthy life change and start riding bicycles for entertainment and exercise.   Darin got a new bike and I cleaned up the one I got when I was 11. Believe it or not it still works great. We bought a bike trailer to pull Grey around in too. We took our first bicycle voyage and insisted that Papa Marlowe and Uncle Jaret get their old bikes dusted off and join us. It was a blast! There were a few times I thought one of us might die, but we all survived and make it to a yummy brunch at Slack Water in Ogden.

Iberostar Maya, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

Darin and I took a 7 day vacation to Mexico to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. We stayed at a beautiful 5 star resort called the Iberostar Maya. It was all inclusive with tons of food, drinks and activities.  On our first night of arrival I got really sick. I tried to be a good sport but found myself in the hotel room in survival mode for the first 3 days of the trip. It was definitely a bummer, but Darin was able to have enough fun for two on those days. I started feeling better just in time for him to start feeling a little sick himself. Needless to say we did have a wonderful vacation. We weren’t able to leave the resort or go on any excursions because we were ill, but we were able to lay by the ocean, play in the pool, sleep in and take long naps every day.  I think we will say in the United States the next time we vacation.

...5 Years...

Darin and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary on June 9th.  We had already planned a trip to Playa Del Carmen Mexico so we were not supposed to do gifts. However I can never resist. I had a photographer help me create this beautiful picture for him. It’s a little sentimental but I felt that 5 years was our first mile stone of many to come.  It has the date we met, the date he proposed, our wedding date, the day our son was born, our 5 year anniversary date and then our 50 year anniversary date. I joked with him that this was my contract and I'm a free agent after 50 years.

Hogle Zoo

We spent a Sunday afternoon at Hogle Zoo. Every year we go it gets better and better. Greydon is at the perfect age to really enjoy, learn and understand about the animals.  For some reason Grey was terrified of the metal Elephant statue so of course Darin made him get close to take a picture.  We had a picnic lunch and explored every inch of the zoo. It was a wonderful day.

I thought this picture turned out so cute! Grey peaking out of a log at the zoo.  Those eyes of his are amazing.

Memorial Day at the Park

This Memorial Day I met with Misty, Nikole, Maree and all of our beautiful children at the Mt. Ogden Park. We ate snacks, laughed and spent some good quality time together. Greydon and Lilli loved the playground and it was fun to take turns snuggling Adolee and Aaron.
